Why does it seem everyone out there on the radio wants to be a tech and do tune ups and repairs? it seems there are more techie wannabees than regular guys that just get on to talk and have fun!! It seems were i live there are more arguments started over whos radio swing his meter more and arguments over whos meter swings more or less and who uses a bird or a dosy..

jyd LOTS of people like RAP or ROCK i'm netural on both... same for radios.... or heck even women. But even the worst excuse for a tech will have something he/she is good at. More than 20 years ago i worked for R&D at the Sperry Microwave plant in clearwater fla. we had a tech named Jeaney she was a very nice middle age mom of 2 who I got to trail after. One thing we did was to test product when things got slow. They handed me a box FILLED with small boards she had marked UNREPAIABLE and asked if i could slavge some for a production shortfall... they were flat out of them. Ok im game so i dove into them and by the end of the day had fixed 50 or so there were a few go go's and production was happy. O it gets better another engenering tech was watching her with a clip lead on one end of a resister and a probe going between the ( color ) bands "Jeaney he asked what ar you doing??? " " Well she said i'm trying to see if i can read between the bands and see if the realy add up" 20 years laret i can still see this man laughing so hard tears flow down his face. Like i said there are tech's and there are TECH'S.

We ALL want to learn it is human nature to learn all we can. I think we want to learn to do things for ourselves so we can be more independent(more human nature stuff)
