Yeah just turn it down, but a half watt is a little low. try 1 watt or 1 and a half watt and thats even good

Rosco-

You may eliminate the problem by experimenting with different jumper lengths between radio and amp. I killed the chatter by putting 3.5ft. of jumper in rather than 3. Sounds silly, but it worked. Also, make sure you have a good ground on the radio side and that your antenna is matched nicely. The amp seems to be somewhat susceptible to reflected power getting back into the key timing circuit. I noticed that the chatter would also stop if I detuned the amp slightly. Also, I didn't have any problem at all driving the amp with 4-10w AM and up to 20 ssb.

I turned the galaxy Melaka down from 7 watts to 1 watt didn't make any difference still chatters.

I hook the mobile cobra 29 on power pack at 5 watts everything works great.

ANY OTHER IDEA'S ? I tried different jumpers, 1 2 3 6 feet still didn't help.

Coulld it be a modulation problem ! rosco

I have tried everything I know, and all suggestions so far. The Galaxy Melaka had the 307 special, and works great no problem with radio. I turned the Wattage down through a dummyload from 7 watts to all the way down. I have tried 1 2 3 6 foot jumper change the location of the KLV 350 Still chatters, the chatter will stop by tuning the KLV down to 30 watts. Not ecceptable at all. Tried the Cobra 29 on power pack 5 watts in KLV tuned to aproximent 180 watts on Am no chatter, tune higher on low it will chatter when when unkeying mic. On high AM will still chatter on cobra. Anyway have heavy TV-I interference. Looks Like It will bee going back to copper. My KLV 300/P mobile works great on battery on base. Any last remendys ?

Rosco-
I would wait to see if 307 or 181 have any suggestions before you send it back. I had a problem with a radio once and sent it back. When I got the replacement I still had the problem. Found out it had nothing to do with the radio. I waited all that time for the replacement when it was an easy fix.

All this talk about keying with 1/4 watt to eliminate chatter makes me how much output you guys get, driving a KLV350 with 1/4 watt. Do you mean to say you have your radios tuned for 1/4 dead key, with 4 watts + swing? I'm not into swing myself. All my radios swing, at most, about 5% or less over the dead key and work just fine.
