well you first need a wattmeter that -is- calibrated for comparison. also these meters are -most- accurate on the low ends. notice how the lines are closer together on the lower end than on the higher end? this has to do with the meter movement and accuracy. so for the low power you would need to use about a .6w source, 4w for medium, and 40w for high. in the inside, with front facing you the 1st three to the left control these. the last is for modulation cal. these mod meters are also accurate when calibrated for a certain carrier. once the carrier level is changed the inside pot also has to be "recalibrated" for a true mod% reading. the only way to "calibrate" this properly is with a scope.

im so glad you posted that.......i was trying to tell that to a guy the other day.

a local guy does his by twisting the pods to read what he thinks his radio should be doing.using a
dime store meter thats been slamed around and hammered with high rf for years and thinks its dead nuts on..... and does this service for others for a small fee.........can you dig it!

and you cant tell him any better cause some "fella" that used to work on radios said thats how its done! 10-4 goodbuddy "drive on"
is all i can say to that...
