Author Message   707 Posted on Tuesday, July 03, 2001 - 2:18 am:        181- you are correct..the FCC doesn't like amps that are not specifically "tapped" for individual amateur bands, and they don't like radios to talk on CB and 10m. You can convert a CB to 10m, but not vice-versa. The KLV amps are designed for wideband ops from 26-30mc, 11m-10m. That's just not applicable here, though...I believe in using these devices for "research and medical" purposes only...I would research propagation by seeing how far I could talk, and I would likely feel much better when I could talk farther!   707 Posted on Tuesday, July 03, 2001 - 11:41 am:        btw- I was just browsing around a local ham shop today and lo and behold, shiny and new on the counter, a 400w solid state amp, with NO predetermined band settings....I asked, and the clerk informed me "it doesn't need it, it's very widebanded, 80-10m".... OK... This particular shop prides itself on being "by the book" and had no qualms over promoting this amp along with a suitable power supply, which they would have been happy to provide as well. I guess that throws the whole amplifier type acceptance argument (based on operational coverage) out the door! So I say..."Run What You Brung!"
