I have been out of CB'n for a while and starting to get back into it. I have a chance to purchase a TR 296GK, Brand new for around a $100, would like any thoughts, pros or cons. Some say its the old 148 gtl board and the last radio I had was a 148 gtl back in 1988 purchased from copper.

Hey Devildog
I ran a TR-296fdx in my mobile for about three days. The second day the second digit on the frequency counter failed. And the third day it quit keying up. I thought this was a good radio until I tried it mobile. I dont think it can take the vibration from the road. It seemed to work ok on the base, it had great recieve and talked great on sideband. I ran a 148f gtl for a long time in the same car and never had a problem.

Thanks for the reply Magnum, Although the deal fell through I guess my quest is still on for a mobile unit.
