Whats the best power mic for a Voyage VR 9000? Also I bought the KLV40 amp with it and using a Wilson 5000, are there any settings I should'nt run the amp on? Also, what does the 10KHz Frequency shift switch do?

Metrocat,

The best power mic? Well that mostly boils down to matter of opinion. I use exclusively the Astatic 575-M6 for mobile use, but it tends to draw in a lot of background noise (wind) if it's cranked to high. I recommend mics by the Astatic corporation and you ill find they have a good selection for mobile use.

The KL40 amp will run fine, and seems to run best with an input of 1 - 2 watts on AM. Be careful not to give it more than it's rated input, 1-5 AM, 2-10 SSB. There is a little leeway there but not much. I speak frome experience, as I now have a another addition to my junk parts box!

The 10kz switch will allow you to bump your frequency of operation up "1 channel" from where you are. If you are on channel 27 and you flip the 10khz switch you will now be on channel 28. It will also allow you access to the "Alpha channels" or RC channels" which are between normal channels on the CB band. These are...3, 7, 11, 15, and 19. With the 10khz switch activated you will operate on a frequency 10 kilohertz above each of those mentioned channels.
