Hi, I just started in cb a few months ago I want to talk some skip all over im thinking of getting a beam antenna whats a good beam to get thats not that big and does the job? My amount to spend is about 200 dollars. |

Mr.B Signal Engineering makes a good looking 2 element beam called the Thunder Hawk that looks good on paper. Although for a little less money,if you want new, Maco makes a nice beam (both a 2 and a 3 element) and Copper carries them so you can check them out here. If a used beam would be ok check Ebay or maybe someone here has one they would like to sell. |

Like i want something not htat big like a 3 element and i have a SHAKESPEARE NBS-2010 i wanted to like put on top of a flat side beam. |

The PDL2 would be a excellant choice for a cheaper beam antenna. This gives you the option to use flat side or vertical position. You also do not need a heavy duty roter to turn this beam. The 3 element maco is a good beam but with the PDL you have the choice! |

Grumpy do they make the pdl2 anymore? i want something that gives me atlease 14 db gain. |

14 db? not out of the pdl 2 your not. The moonraker has 14.5 db of foward gain. |

to get 14 dbd you will need stacked 6 elem beams or a 7 el quad as for a pdl2 if you get 7 dbd your doing good |

In real life the MR 4 has about 12 DB gain and the PDL has probably about 8 or 9.. But the Moonrakers DO work very very well as well as the PDL 2s but me myself i prefer the MR -4s because thats what im used to running. |
