I am 42 out of work, no car, and i am tired of going outside in putting this cheap magnit mount on the chair what kind of antenna should i get for my cheap radio I got ya man it works good need a antenna |

Make a Dipole. Best cheap antenna you can get for your cheap radio. You can make your own simply by buying 50 ft of Coax wit the connector on one end, strip back ther other end(Very Carefully) 9ft or 108", seperate the shield from the center conductor. Strip the center conductor back until you get to the point where the center conductor and the shield will still be insulated from the center conductor. String these 2 wires up so that when you look at your Coax, and these now 2 wires it forms a "T" or as close as you can get it. Voila!!!! instant Antenna for cheap. If you can get this antenna up about 20 feet you can really cook.(36 feet is Ideal) Trees work nicely for this Antenna. I have one I keep in the back of my van so when I go to the park, I slingshot my antenna up to a couple of trees, and I am good to go. This antenna will work as low as 10 feet, but but you will have the danger of someone getting RF burns if they can reach it, and you are transmitting. And almost no power restrictions. I have ran 500 watts through one I made our of some spare Auto Electrical wire...Insulated no doubt.
Bad example...but you will get the idea

Note you can do the same thing with regular wire also. Instead of stripping back teh Coax, just measure out 2 wires, and attach the coax to them. Remember the 2 wires have to be insulated. Should match quite nicely. If not, just lengthen or shorten just like you would a mobile antenna, cept do it to both sides.

Another Antenna you can look up is a Jpole. just do a search on it, you will find it. Not as cheap to build as a Dipole though, but it takes up less space, is more broad banded, doesnt require a ground, and can be easily built many ways. |

Yeah Man YEAH
I think I will get my LAZY but up and make a Dipole antenna. I live in New Orleans and it is hard to stay away from all the food and drinks..

27.465 is Ch 5 on Band E of my 2980 so I call it channel 45. 10-4 I call 27.475 Ch 46. That's is how we do it in the B Y U.
