I MUST BE THE ONLY CB OPERATOR THAT OPERATES IN THE ABOVE 40 RANGE, 27.415-27.885. Well i know this isn't true. I have talk to many hams and cb op's above 40. Isn't it illegal for the hams just like for the non licensed op's. Just wondering how many of you have heard (because i know you wouldn't operate up there) this activity. Great dx and many of them comming out of Europe and elsewhere.

The problem with freebanding is it isn't free. Those so called export channels are still allocated to the goverment or business bands, and i know the next question is they don't use them anymore and many nations allow it to be used. Maybe, but still as long as you are in america and an american you must abide by the rules and regulations of the FCC. Yes it is just as illegal for hams to transmit on export channels just as it is for cb ops. Probably more so in my book, they should know better! Will the FCC crack down on you for transmitting on them maybe not but maybe could turn into surely.

It seems some of you have just discovered the 'upper' channels. Some of us have talked above the CB band for over 30 years. Prior to the 'export' radios in the late 1980s, people always went above for some reason. Before the 40 channels came out, 27.305 was the most popular SB upper channel, then after the 40 channels, we moved higher. A few of the CB radios, like the teaberry, came out with an upper 40 before the exports became available. I use to like the high channels, and sideband much more, so many groups later started claiming certain frequences, and were wanna-be hamsters, with all the q-codes, and channel controllers, they didn't/don't know Hams don't use all those q's, and believe it or not, they use 'break' much more than qrt. Speaking of QRT, I love those that are 'QRT, on the side, standing by, ha. Guess they have to say the same thing three times. Some of them get all otta joint at 'newcomers' for breaking in on 'their' standbys, and not using the proper 'q-etiquette, when the whole damn bunch are in the same boat, not suppose to be there. I much prefer the lower channels now, at least on AM, you can understand people without constant tuning, all these radios with a control (clarifier) for receive only, have a split receive and transmit. Oh yeah they are split..where is the 'center slot' for your radio, straight up, off to the left a little, don't really know, do you? And, when you tune him in with your receive clarifier, you are splitting more. Just some thoughts from an ol Sidebander.
