I called a CB shop that we have here in NC that is about the best around here. The guy that I was talkin to said something about them stopping the importation of the Superstar radios.Has anybody
else heard anything about this? It's like all of a sudden a lot of the good radios are being discontinued.Maxon seems like it's about to go out of business, they've stopped the production of the Maxon 45 and other radios that have 120 channels. Then the thing about Superstar, and I think Tristar has been gone haven't they?Whats goin on??Anybody heard anything?Who else has gone out of business? Thanks

if they do it will be because of demand not the fcc the market is so competive and small if you dont have the best your not going to suvive... maxon has never been very good ... i had a handheld i bought it was flaky so 3 times it went back 3 times it came back with the same problem so on day i got out a lighted mag lamp and searcher the board .... cold solder joint ....

Those little 120 channel radios came out about the same time as the other exports, they had several different names on them.
The first export base radios I knew about was around 1985, the Colt Excaliber and Galaxy SSB, they were in the same case as the later Galaxy Saturns.
The first export mobils I got were the white face Jacksons, that was about 1985 also. The 2510 came out about the same time, maybe a little after the Jackson. They were the only ones of the exports that I know of that came with the one large final. The later galaxy's came with two smaller finals.

ultimitly it`s what the consumers buy that dictates the demand for a certain radio. export or domestic. anyone remember the GECOL SSB RADIO? it was total junk. it didnt sell well so it was discontinued.other radios have met the same fate....lol.
