Still trying to find those measurements for the Penetrator 500 base antenna!! I had the spec's at one time but then moved and it's gone forever. Wondering what the total height of it is supposed to be from tip to the base so I can get the lowest swr's. Any help would be highly appreciated!!!!

well, it's supposed to be a .64 wave antenna (64/100) so doing the math, it appears it should be 7.04m long, which is about 23.3 ft.

I have a few original manuals if you want one email me. Height should be 22' 9 1/2" and radials should be 8'9". Accepts mast of 1 5/8" OD. It will take 1500 watts and handles a 75 mph wind load. Is 5 dB gain. One just sold on Ebay for $297 this week!! (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1347549709)

Hey "BT", I had seen that antenna on ebay and my mouth about dropped to the floor on the final price too. Can't believe these antenna's are going for that much but again, they are hard to find. I did have someone email me copies of the manual for that antenna so I did get the measurements on that but thanks for the offer. Appreciate the help guys!!

BT, your right my man, I just found my old paper work. When I ran one of the penetrators in the 1970s, I had the top element shorten a little, since I talked above 27.500 most of the time back then. They are great old GPs.

Can anybody tell me how to set the swrs on a astroplane antenna? One of the old ones.

If the Astroplane is anything like the Astrobeam, then you can change the length of the top of the driven element to change SWR's . If possible, shorten of lengthen it as needed .
