For older folks only - (Under 40, you won't understand).

You could hardly see for all the snow,
Spread the Rabbit ears as far as they go.
Pull a chair up to the TV set,
"Good night, David; Good night, Chet".

Dependin' on the channel you tuned
You got Rob and Laura - or Ward and June.
It felt so good, felt so right.
Life looked better in black and white.

I Love Lucy, The Real McCoys
Dennis the Menace, the Cleaver boys
Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train
Superman, Jimmy & Lois Lane.

Father Knows Best, Patty Duke
Rin Tin Tin and Lassie too,
Donna Reed on Thursday night--
Life looked better in black and white.

I wanna go back to black and white.
Everything always turned out right.
Simple people, simple lives
Good guy always won the fight.

Now nothin is the way it seems
In living color on the TV screen.
Too many murders, too much fight,
I wanna go back to black and white.

In God they trusted, in bed they slept.
A promise made was a promise kept.
They never cussed or broke their vows.
They'd never make the network now.

But if I could, I'd rather be
In a TV town in '53.
It felt so good, felt so right
Life looked better in black and white.

I'd trade all the channels on the satellite
If I could just turn back the clock tonight
To when everybody knew wrong from right
Life was better in black and white!

Why Cuddlebear, you did a mighty fine job! Did you write that yourself? That sure has a true message concerning today's values, or the lack thereof. The only suggestion I'd make is to find a spot in there for the Greatest Show of All Times, *Andy Griffith*!:)

(And you know, even Andy got to where it wasn't any good after it went to color. Of course, that had more to do with the departure of Barney and the "modernization" of Andy by the writers.)

Dear Bruce and Colt,

Yes, I wrote that myself some time ago. I just wanted to share it with the fine ppl here. Bruce, If I put all the great shows of yesteryear in there it would have been so long that the reader would eventually become bored with the piece. Thus, the message lost....There were a lot of shows I wanted to include, The Honeymooners, Etc. Where comedians got the point across without using the 4 letter colorful metaphors they use today, etc. But I figured in the interest of artistic integrity etc, I would stop there. As for the reason I elected not to include Andy griffith was for the very reason you stated. In my opinion the show lost some of it's Integrity when they modernized Andy. And of course the show lost much of it's appeal to me when Barney Fife left.

Wasn't it nice to turn a tv or lissen to the radio couples were married children respected the adults and when it was dark late at night some of you remember a voice telling stories on the am radio... long john nebbel... JeanShepard ( K2ORS) .... Stories on the radio of iron madens betrail intrege and you saw it all happen in your mind and and lets not forget the scary deep voice that WELCOME YOU TO INER SACTUM ... and a hardy HI HO SILVER ! It wasn't that long ago maby 45 years as a child gluded to the radio hearing this for myself. Cuddlebear great memories too bad the kids of today could not hear this stuff for themself.
