Can anyone tell me the difference between the Cobra 29 "LTD" "GTL" "LTD CLASSIC" They all look the same to me. I am talking about the older models with the mic on the side. Not the sound crappers. And while I am on the Cobra subject, which radio is concidered the better of the two, a 29 or a 148? Now, when I say better, I mean, as far as AM only, which one has more potential for mods and which one will sound cleaner with mods and all that good stuff. The reason I ask is because I have a 29 LTD classic that I would like to fix up with new outerwear such as chrome covers, new faceplate and knobs, etc...I was wondering if I should do this to a 148 instead of the 29. Keep in mind, I am looking for a CLEAN sound not screaming loud.

IMO, the 148 is a bit cleaner, but less power and not as loud as a 29. They say.....the 29s from Malaysia are better? The Uniden 76/78s are what the old 29's were.

Yeah, you can get more out of a 29. The unidens usally run a little better, maybe a few more watts.
