Attention ALL KLV 1 and 2 tube base owners:

From: 307

KLV Problem Report: One and two tube units

Symptoms: Key "Clicking" , "Chattering" , "High SWR".

Description: People who have been complaining about any of the above symptoms should check the following immediately.

On the back side of the unit , locate and inspect the "2" connectors where the PL-259 cables are inserted. Some of these connectors center plastic are overheating and causing the 4 brass contacts that grasps the center conductor of the PL-259 on the (Jumper or antenna) cable to "spread". When they are "spread" the center pin of the PL-259 connector goes straight down the center of the connector and DOES NOT TOUCH. (no contact). This causes ALL of the above failures. This was confirmed on 7 out of 9 units repaired. If you are experiencing these problems replace the connectors with the NYLON type.

Also , when inserting a PL-259 into the connectors on the rear of the amplifier , make sure it is a "SNUG" fit and not a loose insert. Cheaper jumpers most likely have a narrow pin. These will not work , replace at once.
