into a 3 element quad.

If you can find an old PDLII that someone is selling for parts you have the makings of a very nice PDLII upgrade into a 3 element.

Using the boom of the scrapped antenna and one of the plastic hubs on one end of the boom make a director element by using the junked out spreaders Placing a piece of PVC pipe on the ends of the spreaders. Wrap a loop of wire that is 5% smaller/shorter than the length of the loaded loop around the new director spreaders. To attach the two booms together I used an old section of telescopic pole pipe that just fit inside the boom. I made a splice and screwed the two booms together.

A final line up of the elements to make them look neat. A relocation of the boom bracket to the middle and there ya go. You might have to touch up the matching. As for measurements just put the new director at the end of the boom.

Part of the fun of making antennas is seeing what ya can make with what you have on hand.

thats simple enuff, and should work fine. i did this with a moonraker4 as my parts beam and made a higain 3 elem quad.
i like to use fiberglass spreaders though gives more suport when the beam ices up i also place a small amount of load on the spreader arms for this same reason.
