I'm interested in anybody's experience with the Delta Force or 257 radios. I've read the past posts about the 257s (vol knob, some funky tuning stuff, etc.). Any recent experience about how they are handling the summer heat or how the Delta Force works?

Also, regarding the Delta Force: On "another webpage", I saw several mods to the Delta Force, including some new ones for 2002 models. There were receiver mods to address the sensitivity that some have addressed in posts here. According to the mods, Magnum will even send you the parts.

I hate to buy a new radio and then cut it all up with a bunch of mods. Why can't they just build them the right way if they know there are some non-optimum portions?

Anyway, I welcome all thoughts on the Delta Force and 257s.

just buy a vr-9000,i have had awsome luck with mine.there are bugs in all radios, but some more than others,2950's have display problems and battery problems.some of the worst audio i have ever heard, boards crack easy, notorious for bad solderjoints.power supplys in 2990's quit, what you wrote above.there are lots of thing on alot of radios.how ever, you have to take alot of this in cinsideration before purchaseing a radio.

The Delta Force is a very nice radio, worth the money. I own one and like it very much, no problems with mine!

I've posted this before.... the Magnum line is the best available product for CB and freeband AM/FM/SSB. As said before all radios will have quirks from time to time. The Magnums have only been out 2-3yrs, cut them a little slack.
Look how long Galaxy has been around and you'll still get a radio occasionally with cold joints out of the box.
Sure, I'd like to see the Delta and 257 with 6 digit counters, would like to see a fine and coarse clarifier as well. All in all you can't beat them for features, price, and performance.

A Delta Force popped up on Ebay today, but it was taken off before 6 PM. The 'buy it now' price was $235, which is higher than Coppers! I was interested in how high it was going to go...

And i saw a turner plus 2 with the box sell for 275.00 once!!!! Good gawd! Thats for a mike that is more than likely older than me and the parts inside are probably dried out and likely to fail. I dont know what motivates some of those guys that bid on there but some have no sense at all!!!!!!

MAGNUM DELTA FORCE - how hard is this radio to convert to 11 meters? And does the freq display really show your freq when your move the claifier? Is the claifier unlocked? Question, so many questions. But I am lookinf for a new radio. And that one looks some nice.

The Delta is simple to convert. The clarifier is locked and rx only. Rx adjustment through the clarifier is not read through the freq ctr. The 5th digit on the counter is adjustable for tx and is readable on the counter.

Someone posted on another board a while back that the Delta Force was based on the EPT-360011z board--I find that difficult to believe.

What board is in this radio?
