I bought a 50v 6800uf cap and put it in my Melaka today. The one that was in it was 1000uf at 25v. I have noticed that my radio is nice and quite., also it seems that I get a bit more output

Was this a good idea.. I THINK SO!!!!!

Oldguy im asuming this went in your power supply and not across you mike input. A large cap like that would help to flatten the output voltage swing which would increase output. How ever i would wonder if the surge current across the power diodes could damage them?

I got a 100,000uf cap 25 volt,would that work?It's 3"by6".

OOOPPPS I left a digit out it should read 10000 25 volt was in and i replaced it with a 168000 50 volt

Yes bruce you are correct> In the pwr supply Well i have not see any power diodes prob.

Although the peak to average current into the power supply rectifier would increase slightly, the limiting factor at the CB radio would be the resistance of the radio power leads. I see no harm in the larger cap on the DC bus in the radio.
