How many watts does it take to run a 100 watt mobile amplifier? I was thinking about buying a 10 amp power supply or using a motorcycle battery to run it...any suggestions??? |

I'd go with a 12 constant 15 surge for a 100w amp. That will ONLY run the amp, no radio with it. Get a 20a if you want to run a radio with it. |

What about the motorcycle battery, bad idea...will it work without frying the amp? It has a 30 amp inline fuse.... |

Ol 6 is probably correct OK. I agree that a 20 amp surge supply should be adequate. Having said that, lets talk moeny. If a say 35 or 40 amp only costs 40 or 50 bucks more why not invest the extra green to get a cushion of comfort. That way you can always add a radio to the load without having to purchase two power supplies.
For example my big wall cube is a 40 amp surge model. Now this is twice as much as I need but it cost 45 bucks more than the 25 amp supply required at the time of purchase. And being bigger than needed it never runs very hot even if I were to turn every thing on that is attached to it.
Check our good host Copper for his selection of power supplies. If you can get more surge amps for just a few bucks more I strongly suggest that you spend the few bucks extra and save money in the long run.
