...nope...went to both of them, some one else had already got their stuff ( YESTERDAY )...one DID say that they do " get cb radios & scanners brought IN on a regular basis, they just get bought by someone else just as fast, among their fastest moving items were used cb radios & scanners !!I was unaware that blonde women were so knowledgeable about cb radios & scanners, then noticed in EMPLOYEE parking lot there was ONE cb antenna ( a 102 inch whip, hard to miss ) mounted to the bumpber of a old grand am car ( bet that belonged to the blonde )...hmmm....BIG FOOT

Hey 707, so you got that Stoner, huh. I was watching it, no thoughts of buying it however. I don't think your hurt on the price, they are very rare, I've only seen one in all my years of radio. Great SSB radios, of course thats all they are, no AM.

It was in great shape but the auctioneer said it was an electric fence charger so I had to tell him what it was(amateur radio amp)....

Well, it was just something I wanted for a long time. I can remember drooling over them in CB World or some other magazine back in '78 and thinking..."no way is somebody gonna pay $1000 for a ssb only CB...(what is that in today's dollars??)" I've heard a few on the air over the years..very few..like three..

We'll see how it turns out.

707, I know what you mean about drooling over those high priced radios back in the '70s. Same here, I couldn't, or didn't ever buy one of the Browning radios new, guess that's the reason I have a shop full of them now that I hardly ever use. I was really surprised at his 'buy it now' price on that Stoner, if he had advertised it better, with more good pictures, I think it would have doubled that. I had a friend back then that could afford whatever he wanted, and he bought every new, or high priced radio, antenna, or amplifier that he heard about. He had all the Brownings, Trams, CPI's and all the rest, he also had the only Stoner I've ever seen, and he kept and used it the longest. He ran it into a Pride 300 and stacked longjohns. He had bigger amps, but that was his sideband rig. We had a Sideband club in Ar, started abt 1975, lasted till about 1990. I traveled over most of the state in my work back then, and there were very few places in a 150 mile radius, that I couldn't talk to him from my mobile. Ah the good old days, huh. lol

Good question. You can read about it at stoner After you read how it is designed, you will understand, unless you just are not into SSB.

The quick answer would be, what is so great about ANY AM only radio...they don't have SSB or FM ;-) It depends on what your interests are.
