I recently purchased the Uniden BC895XLT (not the BC890XLT) and I was wondering if anyone has any 800mhz analog cell phone mod for this scanner without using the PC interface software! All the past message boards I enter just give me the mod for the 890... is this the same mod? Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Thank You!

as far as i know that scanner is to new to modify you need an older one like bc200,pro2004,5,6
bc800 something older. search for scanner mods there are sites that tell you which ones can be modified

The BC890XLT is the same scanner as this one, except this one has the truck tracking on it. I know 2 people in my area who have the full 800-900Mhz range in theirs, but someone else did it for them for $50. I didn't want to pay anyone to do it. I know the mod is avaiable, the easiest way to do it is with the PC interface, you can tell it to go anywhere and do anything, but I want to have that capability without keeping my PC hooked up to it. All the mod sites I looked up only talk about the 890, and all the other baords I've asked in give me the 890 mod, when I asked them if the 890 board is the same as the 895, no one answered! I know people say newer scanners can't be modified, but I know lots of people who have new scanners (including my 895)that can pick up 870Mhz and beyond... hmm, I wonder if there is some stupid board or module you have to add, someone said that about the newer ones in another forum.

For your information Bruce, wether this is against the law or not, I can listen to whoever I want for whatever purposes I want. I did not ask for anyones opinion about what I'm doing, I just want to know how to do it. This is a radio forum, and I'm asking how do modify a radio, I'm not asking for questions on why I would want to, just how to do it. I think I'm doing something called having a HOBBY and I thought this is what this forum was here for. I've been reading this forum now for years, I don't understand why everytime someone asks how to perform a modification to something, people ask them why or a tech tells them it will be too difficult (like when people ask about more finals or power, a tech is sure to say "thats a very difficult mod, just buy a linear". I guess the days of hobbies are over with, just buy something else instead of challenging yourself to see if you CAN do it.

Either way, I'm not mad at you Bruce, or anyone else, just thought this forum was for helping people with repairs or mods, did anyone try to realize just about everyone who asks questions in here knows that it is simpler to buy a linear or a scanner that already has cell added!

I hope I didn't step on any toes here, but my hobby is radios, listening, talking, working on, anything radio... helping others find answers to their problems or mods... must be the only one like this around anymore.
