Buck,

President P-300 (Good Radio)

The tune up for it is:

VR-10 is AM POWER
VR-6 is ALC
VR-5 is AM MODULATION
VR-7 is RF POWER METER
VR-1 is S-Meter Adjustment
TX coils - L34, L35 - L36 - L26
RX coils - L3 - L8 - L10 - L-11

it has the Same tune up as the AR-144 & Ax-144

I was lucky enough to find a Excellent used AX-144 on e-bay about 4 months ago from Australia.
Great sounding radio. I did the chip switch from PLL UPD2824 to PLL UPD2816 & I love it!

President had 5 models of the P series the P-200/P-210/P220 were all AM only and the P-300 / P-400 had SSB also.

This was when they were made with only the President name before Uniden President Series came out.

Hope this answers some question's for you

Buck, it's a decent ssb radio. Been several years since I messed with one, but seems to me it is similar to the old Cobra 146gtl.

...had not seen a COBRA 146 in a while ( nearly like the 148 in looks, but no swr bridge or dynamike knob...it had half the cover gone, the man that owned it only wanted $1 for it... no mike or power plug...said it worked fine on recieve, but squealed on transmit...went back later it was gone...this was at Huntsville Hamfest a week or so back...guess with some CB radios, you have about got to GIVE them away...( $1 )....BIG FOOT
