Tonight(monday) right after sundown the skip conditions were really good, got a quick confirmation from Iowa. No convo but for my rig, antenna and location I think just reaching Iowa was pretty good. Anyway, I was noticing that it was difficult to hear with all the chatter, so, in effect good skip can be bad due to all the traffic coming over the speaker. Any remedies for this?

Metro, on occasion I have adjusted my rf gain and had success. Briefly. Skip rolls in an out and can be a pain, especially on side bad. AM skip seems to be easier for me without the need to constantly tweak that clarifier. BUT, skip is skip. Its a condition that is random and totally unpredictable. Savor every DX chat. Each one is like hitting a lucky combination on a slot machine.
