Things don’t always go as you plan. Nor do you always end up where you think you are headed. I am reminded of something that happened to a plumber friend of mine.

This fellow was on top of a house one day using a roto rooter. The idea was to run the rotor through the drain of the house out through the pipe into the drainage sewer under the street. The plumber started the rooter on its merry way, thinking it was just a routine job. In only a few minutes, the lady of the house ran out into the yard, screaming hysterically: ‘Stop! Stop! You’ve got my dog! You’ve got my dog!’ My plumber friend was somewhat startled, not having the slightest idea what she was talking about. He hurried into the house to discover quite a scene. Instead of going quickly through the house to the street, the roto rooter had taken a detour. One hell of a detour! It had come up through a toilet in a first floor bathroom. It completely shattered the toilet, spewing pieces everywhere. It had also splattered blackish, putrid water all over what had been a solid white bathroom.

But it didn’t stop there. The rooter had come out of the toilet and had churned itself into a large rug on the floor. The rug had gotten tangled up in the rotary action of the machine. Wrapped up in the rug was an absolutely terrified white poodle, yelping and shaking uncontrollable, on the verge of a nervous breakdown. It took some time to untangle the unfortunate beast from the mess. I can only wonder what that poor dog thought when it saw this gigantic snake arising out of the toilet. Its first instinct must have been to fight and defend its territory. Quickly learning how futile that would be, its ‘flee’ instinct must have kicked in, but to no avail, as it was caught hopelessly in the carpet. No telling how many years of ‘doggy therapy’ the pooch needed to overcome the experience.

Needless to say, the job became a losing proposition for my plumber friend.

I wish all would stop laughing so hard.
Our bed room is located below the second floor bath room. About 2 o'clock in the morning I awoke to a very wet feeling. Upon checking I found the bottom of the tub even with the ceiling. Needless to say I have just compleated the new bath room. Would you call this a rude awaking?
Just a note, the house was built in 1702 and has paid it's dues. It is now starting to ask it's due.
