Tripp-Lite is the real McCoy. Full protection from excess voltage and a current limiter. I'ts one brand used for a lot of "Business" FM 2-way radios. That industry figured out 20 years ago that making separate mobile and base versions of the same radio was silly. Every "business" base radio you see now is a mobile with an Astron or Tripp-Lite power supply under it. That stuff is pretty pricey, so they have no reason to use cheap "unprotected" power supplies on expensive radios.
The 60 Amp should run a DX667V just fine. It will be about half the size you need for 8 transistors. Bear in mind that YOU control the power consumption of a big amplifier with the size of your driver. Using just a barefoot radio, an 8-transistor amp will probably run just fine on a 60 Amp power supply. Use a driver, and you'll need a bigger one.

TL is a very fine power supply. I have been using a 35 - 40 amp supply for many years. No problems to report other than the the little light on the switch burnt out. What the heck, who needs a light on a switch.

2600 is right. astron even designs their power supplies with a 'base' bracket for these mobiles(can put almost any motorola/other brand of your choice mobile in this configuration). the 'bracket' holds the power supply and the radio as a 'base' setup.

most new repeaters are going the same route. 2 mobiles with a controller and astron/other brand power supply. a 50w version is the same size as a gal/rci base(includes the rx and tx radio, power supply, controller, duplexer, and cooling fans).

and yes while astron is probably at the top of the most used list, i would put tripp lite right up there with them as far as for depedability.
