I suck when it comes to code I want so much to talk on 40,80,and160 meters ssb phone I can taste it,I dislike freebanding but I dislike vhf/uhf/micro wave even more. But I heard 160 meter phone on a friends rig I could've sat there for hours just listening, god 1500 miles on 4 watts or less much less. Then he communicated with code ON HIS COMPUTER on 10 meters, no key.Oh btw he is a general class. This was 5 years ago and I'm no closer to my goal, carp,I mean oh never mind.

Re Bob

I had the same problem. The problem was not the inability of learn but rather the mental attitude that said why should I. I was defeating myself. I accomplished some code skills by simply not tellin myself it was impossible.

You will be happy to know that very probably within a few years the code requirement will be dropped. The bad news is that the written tests will probably be getting harder to compensate. Already the tests have become much harder with the Extra increasing the number of questions in the question pool. So on one hand you will probably not have to face the dots and dashes BUT you will have to know one heck of a lot more for the written testing.

However, never say die!

DE is right BigBob.....don't give up! If you want it bad enough....you'll get it someway. Look for things like "Code-Quick" [www.codequick.com]. That totally worked for me. I was stumped at 5wpm for 3 years. Bottom line is, YOU have control! You Can do it! So do IT!!! Find whatever works for you to get what you need accomplished.
