Here's a question for the hams on the forum. While "listening in" on 10 meters, I heard a few rigs with fantastic audio. It wasn't the big cb modulated sound, but rather a big clear bassy audio. What desk mike can I use with my Ranger 2985 to get simuliar results? I don't see many aftermarket ham type mikes, and I rather not purchase a icom or kenwood replacement mikes due to the large cost. The mode of interest will be SSB, although am is of some importance too. Any recommendations for specific mikes? |

Mega belive it or not some of the stock mikes sound great! The Mag 257 /HTX-10/titan 485 have BROADCAST audio on all modes STOCK out of the box!
Someone in qst had a audio matching ckt for the d104 to match it to the newer radios and as taz stated turner makes a good mike. As for icom ect i bought the matching YASEU mike for my ft-840 dont wast your money. |

I have to agree with 671. Heil does have one very nice mike element.
But sometimes it is the voice not the mike. Some people have a high squeaky voice and others have a deep voice. A good mike only reproduces the kind of voice you have. |
