I know there are die hard CB operators and die hard Amatuer Radio operators. I just noticed a trend of both operators wanting more "HIGH END" equipment,,,Yaesu, ICOM, Kenwood, and such maybe that is the treend of the future??

It would be if I had that kind of money, but in my case I am limited to what I have, and the change over would put me back on my corner.

If you have the money, the more upscale radios have great sound quality and better filtering. So many features and options as well. I could see why better radios are sought after.

RE 558

I cannot speak for all amateurs, however after over 15 years of being a ham op I can say with some confidence that most Hams, if they stay active long enough to appreciate the uniqueness of their hobby, usually end up buying at least a/one big three used radio in good condition.

Some hams, if you want to believe their stories on the air, buy new radios every year at at least 2000 a pop.
