I'm just getting seirous into radio, I've played with the here and there but never got into them. A friend of mine gave me a Cobra 19 LTD II, I baught a 102" whip and mounted that on the bumper. Some times people say I sound good, others say they can't understand me. I've checked my SWR and i'm at a 1. Could my radio be crapped out? Any suggestions?

Has the radio ben modified? i.e. mod limiter removed? Some radios without a mic gain that has the limiter cliped or removed will over modulate something fierce. (sp)That would be one place to look also, with an antenna mounted on one corner of the bumper will make it directional.I suggest removing the whip and getting a Wilson 1k or 5k mag mount and istalling it in the center of the roof.
