I hear some mighty fine SSB stations out there. Talked to one the other day and he told me he hoped I was not runnig power. Not sure what he meant, had the RF power turned up about half way, but no amp.
I'm not so accustomed to ssb. Is there a unwritten code about power? I try to read the forum as much as possible and am still interested. |

The biggest reason I like SSB is the great sounding stations. To me how much power you run is your own business. Operators take more stock in barefoot QSO's, but to me a contact is a contact. I am geographicly challenged, I have to run POWER, or I cant get out! You have a bunch of guys out there that like pointing out your INFERIOR sounding station, or get mad if you use a roger beep on SSB, and to many more things to mention.
Personally I like to just have fun.
OH YEAH, the use of ECHO on SSB should be outlawed!!!! :> |

I've Run Many Various Combinations Of Radios And Amps And Do Quite A Bit Of Talking On Sideband . I've Never Run Across Any Problems, Plus A Little Bit Of Power Can Help Get You Back To Someone Better . Overmodulation Can Be A Problem On Sideband Though . I Always Turn The Mic Gains Down Low For Sideband And Make Sure To TURN OFF YOUR ECHO !!!!! 8ZERO4 . CDX - 804 . |
