I did just receive a Super Lance groundless antenna which works pretty good if you use the exact lengths of coax they specify. However it won't do what they advertise and I quote(makes big base station antennas obsolete). These guys in advertising are nearly as crooked as used car salesman.

I have an Imax 2000 for local and a homebrew 3 element yagi computer designed with "yagimax 311" program. I use a tuner for both antennas for 10 and 11 meters.

IMAX 2000 here. 25 feet up (at the base). I hope to bring an old PDL II out of storage and see if it is all there and maybe get it running, too. Wish me luck (I'll probably need it!)!

Josuha, where did you find yagimax 311? I use to use YagiMax and it was DOS based. Is the 311 a Windows modeling tool? Please email me a response to: marconi390@pdq.net

Vernonott,

Do you know the difference between a person in advertising and a used car salesman?

The used car salesman _knows_ he lying!

I run a Solarcon Antron 99 up 10 feet in the air with a homemade ground radial kit.Just running 20 watts on sideband I've talked all over the world. The funny thing is,being at this height my swr is flat across the 11 meter band.I have consistant ground wave communication with stations on average of 20 to 30 miles at night when the skip dies down. The Chameleon Unit 2JB162 Fort Lauderdale,FL J.C.B.

moonraker 6.i run a moonraker 6 about 70 feet up.
i also have a "new big stick" up 70 feet on another tower. i have 2 a99's ,one at 40 feet on a side mount[it's a little directional].and one at 30 feet on a third tower.
i put my first moonraker 4 up in 1971 and they are sure a good antenna . i have many beams over the years like the wilsom 400 and 500 [10x10] ,stacked 3's,4's, and 5's but the best i ever ran was the jo-gunn 8x8 golden killer.
the moonraker 6 is a close second.
for ground planes,i like the i max 2000 but mine didn't make it thru last winter.

I have a shakespeare that the top fiberglass half shattered into pieces. I screwed in a 102" steel whip but the SWR's were high on 1. I added about 6, 1" extenders and that brought 1 and 40 even. Now on 19 SWR's don't even move the needle. Gotta love those 102" steel whips.

I run a four element Wilson yagi on a moonraker boom at 27' and a Starduster at 52' to the hub.
To top it off I run an original Sigma IV on a 10' mast that works great.

ive like most everyone else thats been at this for a good while have run many kinds of antennas.

some of my favorite ground plains were the astroplain,starduster,penitraiter500,old droopy drawers i think it was called?

some of my favorite "small" beams were the astrobeam,m103c,PDL2

in "midsized" beams i really like the moonraker-4,
and the 4 elem quad.

in "big" beams i like the 6 element quad, 5 and 6 element long johns,moonraker-6

in 8 elements beams id have to cut down a tree... and run a signal eng.8 or laser 500

i now am installing an optimized 6 element quad that will be at 80-90 ft when i put the tower back up. i use a antron 99 at 27 ft to the feed point but plain to put up another ground plain at
55-65ft on another tower.

im also making a dual band 6 element quad for 2 meter, murs(maybe one for fsr) freqs. ive got the 151mhz elements on now but have not checked it on the analizer yet to see if ill have to make another set for 154mhz.? and have to make the 2 meter elements yet
if this works out i hope to put this up as well.

I don't know if this brings this out of storage, so to speak, but I notice the astroplane is high on several of you guys list. What do you think of the Astroplane copies of today?
