I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500 Pickup. How big of a amp can I run on my stock alternator, and not stress it?

Thanks

What I've seen is not the alt. totally, but the capacity of the battery. A good battery (850 cca) will take more of a discharge and will charge back up better than a small one (500 cca). Killed a small battery in my Ranger running a homemade Cherry Bomb 1100. Put larger battery in, as long as you give it time to charge after a conversation it will last. This box dims the lights. So far so good.

I was thinking about using two deep cycle batteries in parallel dedicated to just radio/amp.

Right now I just have a little 2-pill, so it's not an issue, but if I wanted a bigger amp, I'd rather not mess with upgrading the charging system on this particular vehicle.

i have 1997 gmc 1500 and have run a ts667 and did good with stock charging system but now have a x-force xt-400 and had to upgrade alt. to a 140plus alt. i would go with a ts500 or a 667
