I was wondering the same thing. I figured it was because of the Holidays. But it's a good question none the less.

I think it would be cool to let forum members post auctions.

I want to be the devils advocate here, but what would be the incentive for Copper to allow members to put stuff on the auction? I mean im not trying to start trouble but dont forget Copper is in the business to sell radio equipment for a profit. Can Copper make payroll auctioning off stuff that isnt their's?
This is just the opinion of myself, it is not intended to be a Copper opinion or comment.

OK, time for a reality check here.

This Forum was started to help People with Problems & Questions they may have on Radio Equipment & the Radio Hobby.

It is Sponsored by: COPPER ELECTRONICS, not COPPER AUCTION SERVICES.

It is a FREE Service to help those who need help and write in for help and a place where they can voice there opinions on topics related to the Radio Hobby.

With close to 30,000 post's to this Forum now, it is one of the BEST on the internet for help and advice.

The VOID for listing items for sale or auction is already being filled by ebay, yahoo and others.

As of 5:05 pm CDT today there is 15,689 items listed under radios and equipment and 1658 New Items listed today on ebay.

Also I would assume that if Copper was to start the auction service you would have hundreds if not thousands posting ads here.

Might even take a week or month to get to someone's question for help on a problem as we techs and moderators have to read and approve every post sent in before it gets posted.

My Suggestion: Let the Auction Services out there handle the Auctions and Let the COPPER Forum Continue to thrive and grow as what it was designed for.

To HELP those who need Help with Question's and Problems and Help PROMOTE the Radio HOBBY.

And trust me, I really do not want to have to read through several hundred ads every day to approve for posting, just to find one person with a problem or question who needs help.

All of us Techs and Moderator's here on the FORUM Donate our time to try and help those who need help.

I cannot speak for the others but I really would not like to waste my time reading and approving Auction Ads for 5 to 6 hours a day to get them posted.

Leave the auction's to the auction sites.

THESE ARE MY OWN THOUGHT'S AND IN NO WAY EXPRESS THE FEELINGS OF COPPER ELECTRONICS, Inc. OR ANY OTHER MEMBERS OF COPPER.

Actually we have been looking at software to do third party auctions and classified ads for some time now. It would be a totally separate package from the forum.

I don't think it's a matter of if we will do it but when we will do it.

We may even have to try a number of them to find which one works best.
