I have read a lot about the differnet kinds of Mods for My Cobra Radios. One thing that all have in common is change the stock final to a 1969. I have also done some research on these guys too. Question is, I have found a 2SC2050 and was wandering if that would work too? And if so would I have to change the driver? The 2050 and the 1969 look the same on paper but i havent seen anyone say anything about the 2050, thats why im asking.. Thanks for any input Chris in AZ |

Chris can I make a recommendation? Tune it and leave it. My opinion is all the final changing is a bunch of hyper...for what? 2 more watts peak? The small bit of gain by changing final isn't even noticeable. That's the #1 sales gimmick of truckstop hack shops. $60 for 2-3w gain and lower modulation. |

Unless you just want to experiment get a tx star modv more bang for the buck(80 watts).I never heard of the 2050 on any forum so that may be a clue,I have heard of the 2312c it has slightly less gain than the 1969 but is easier to stabilize. |

You are far ahead of the game by using that money and effort to instead purchase a small amp. An extra 3 watts will not be noticeable on the air by even the most sensitive of test equipment. However, an extra 50 to 80 of a small inexpensive amp would certainly be noticeable by anyone. This assumes you are a licensed amateur on the amateur bands. |

Thanks for all the input.. I have always gotten good info from the techs and other forum readers and I appreciate the help. I was wanting to experiment a little. Instead of changing the stock final to a 1969 I was thinking the 2050. I enjoy playing around on these radios. As far as the little box, I have a couple sitting around I use from time to time. I May try it just to see what happens. I let yall know. Keep the comments coming.... Thanks again for your help.... Chris in AZ |

The techs are correct. Small changes on your end are never seen on the receivers side. You would have to make a truly major significant change on your side in order for them to even notice it on their receiver. Leave the radio alone. |

WELL I'VE ALWAYS HEARD THAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO RUN A LINEAR OR WANTING TO SWING MORE WATTS YOU HAVE TO PUT A 2SC1969 FINAL IN THERE.OR IF YOU PUT A MOD KIT IN YOUR RADIO YOU HAVE TO PUT ONE IN IT.IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THIS OR CAN YOU USE THE FACTORY FINAL THAT COMES IN IT IF YOU USE A MOD KIT?? I KNOW THE FACTORY FINAL IS 4 WATTS AND THE 1969 IS 18 WATTS.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW BECAUSE I ALWAYS PUT THE BIGGER FINAL IN ANY RADIO I WORK ON BUT NO NEED TO SPEND EXTRA MONEY WHEN NOT NEEDE HUH? |
