Just ordered a Ranger 2985DX and a KLV 400 base amp.. Anyone else using these..Most of what i see is about klv500....Thanks |

I don't have the 400 but another version of the KLV amps. I think you will love the clean sound it puts out both AM and SSB.
I think you hear mostly about the 550 is because it is a transistor base amp, whereas the 400 is a tube amp. Nothing wrong with that, but many people nowadays just want the plug-and-play without waiting for the tubes to warm up. Just my thoughts.
It is a great amp you will be very happy with I'm sure. Drive it easy and it will last a very long time.
