I added this post to another conservation area but thought it was worthy of it's own "Topic" header since it is good practcal info for all! For those interested in color coordinating or re-surfacing their fiberglass antennas go to your local industrial paint store and ask for a can of "TNEMEC" paint (that's "cement" spelled backward). No Joke!!! This is a special paint for outdoor use made to adhere to fiberglass. (We use it to re-surface weathered fiberglass panels on RF Transparent buildings in my line of work...e.g. it won't effect RF to over 20GHz) Just lightly sand with 400 grit paper (PLEASE...PLEASE...be sure to protect eyes, nose and skin from the fiberglass particles while u sand!!!) and clean the fiberglass. Then apply several coats until surface is fully resealed with the new color paint. Typical life expectancy of 10 to 15 years (same as sealed fiberglass). 73 Mr_RF |
