"Most Modified CB Radio I've Ever Seen"

Cobra 2000

I don't expect for it to last long under eBay's microscope, so here's just a sample...

"...THIS AUCTION IS FOR A COBRA 2000GTL BASE CB RADIO AM/FM SSB.AND YES IT HAS FM IT WAS PUT IN THIS RADIO AM/FM SWITCH AND COMES WITH A ASTATIC D104 MIC. THIS RADIO HAS BEEN TESTED AND WORKS ON ALL BANDS AM FM SSB.THIS WAS NOT STOCK! HAS VOL/MIC GAIN SQELCH/RF POWER/RF GAIN 2 MIC PLUGS FOR A FOUR PIN OR A FIVE PIN HAS HI LOW POWER. ALL THE EXTRA CHANNELS AND HAS SEPERATE SSB RECIVE SLIDER AM SLIDER. CLOCK WORKS FINE AND SPEKER IS IN DECENT SHAPE.I THINK IT ALLSO HAS A ROGER BEEP! WITH SWITCH..."

Wow! I remember seeing an FM mod for the 2000 years ago, and as I recall, it was fairly involved...Two mic plugs??? If you look along the front edge, it is full of extra switches and connectors, all painstakingly lettered, etc. Can you even imagine how many times this radio has been dissasembled and put back together?

You know, if for no other reason, it'd be great to have on the 'ol vintage radio shelf as a monument to Southern Ingenuity.

It may have a superstar 3900, euro, galaxy or connex replacing the original board. I know a guy down the street from me who puts them in Daks, Cobra 1000's, trams, etc if he runs across one that is too far gone. I tried out one of his Dak 10's that was retrofitted. All the meters worked and seemed to be accurate. The built in power supply worked, variable power, echo, etc. It is a pretty nice radio considering.

I like the 2000, but it is so darn big. I think my 4900B is a better radio. But it would be fun to own it.
