i have a midland 77-089 and a cobra 25 ltd clasic and i think that the finals are bad. how do i test them?

jimmy a QUICK test find a pin out hook your volt meter ONE LEAD to the base lead the meter on the diode test range and check to see if you get .6 volts for a reading ( about ) or if it shows open to either the collector or emiter lead TEST TO BOTH! Now hook the OTHER lead to the base and touch emiter and collector leads again it you show open to both and had .6v to both when you had the other lead connected. IF YOU GET A .6 VOLT READING TO BOTH AND OPEN WHEN YOU REVERSE THE TEST LEADS ITS PROBLEY GOOD IF ONE SHOWS OPEN IN BOTH DIRECTIONS ITS LIKELY BAD.
