Response; "Made in China" Hmmm, well that wasnt much help for Sparkomatic... LOL! Ah well! I knew a guy that ran a SS GR and he liked it from what he told me. it sounded like a galaxy on the air and he used it on SSB with varied luck but, me myself I prefer the President version thats out there myself.... Now thats a good radio!!!!! :-) |

CM......I know the President Grant is a great radio. I have 2 President Grants 1 with a D858 PLL chip and 1 with a MB8719, both are LOUD. I was curious as to which PLL the Superstar Grant uses. |

If I'm not mistaken, the SS Grant has a MC145106. |

IIRC the superstar version is in a way a cheaper made version of the export president version of the grant. The export president (made in Italy? I dont really know) has i think 5 bands of 40 channels and dual finals. Im not up on the radios so this is what i know from what the guy at the CB shop told me back in 1993 or so, so its been a while.. I was gonna get the export version once at that shop but for some odd reason i got the president HR 2510 instead. I think the shop owner talked me into the 2510! LOL ;-) |

The SS Grant is an ok radio it just needs allot of work out of the box. Mine needed all the solder joints redone. Now it seems ok, its got awesome audio and decent receive. |
