Hey guys, I have a galaxy saturn, that mysteriously quit transmitting......RX seems to be fine but when I transmit on my Dosy Meters it only shows about 1/10th of a watt....If the driver and finals were shot, wouldn't it have no TX and RX........any info would be appreciated...Thanks

Snapperhead,if the final's were gone, you should still have recieve. However,if the final is shorted you may notice a dimming of the panel light's with a hummimng sound maybe. You did not specify if you had transmit power on SSB or not though. If you do,then i suspect the AM power regulator is at fault. If not, then check the final's and driver.

hey guys, thanks for tip......I keydup the Saturn with my other base radio nearby and YES, it does have audio and put out around a 1/10th of a watt on SSB as well as AM, I have a question about the driver and finals......There is limited shops around to buy TO-220 type transisters in my area. The only one around is a dealer that carries NTE parts....I crossed refed driver wich is a 2sc2166 as well as the two finals, 2sc2312 and I came up with NTE-236 for all three....Does this sound right...I thought there'd be a difference in power outages on the driver compared to the finals....Thanks again flybynight and 307, NO, I didn't read the post on the other thread....73's
