Backstep for one....

If we were talking about a standard wheatie I would understand burn out. BUT LEDs last one very long time. Hmmm First check to see of you are getting voltage to the LED. The problem may lie somewhere in the circut before the LED.

Actually, I took apart the front faceplate on this 2950 and realized they were little orange rubber like covers for the bulbs themself. I just want to know if anyone carries these bulb covers in different colors like green, blue, etc. I've seen the display green before but I think it was the DX model but they should all change in color depending on if I can find those bulb covers! Thanks again!!!!!!!

I have changed bulbs in other radios in the past, just never the 2950. Yesterday I completed the change in a 2950. The display and rubber button pad now illuminates a beautiful blue glow. If you need instructions on this email me, if you don't feel confident doing the upgrade you can send the rig to me.

Thanks Tech671. Actually I was just looking for the bulb covers. I'd like to change the display to either green or blue. Haven't really decided yet to change out the led's on the rubber pad buttons yet.

I had a 2970 that had a purple display.I picked it up a hamfest.I asked the seller how it was done and he told me that he took the orange boots off and colored the bulbs with a purple marker. It looked really cool, too bad his screwdriver was a "Golden" color.

Hey busdriver,
I'll try radio shack but that was kind of my last resort. I admit they have tons of stuff but sometimes it's hard finding someone in the store that knows what the heck they're doing!! Maybe it's just here! Ha!! Anyways, thanks guys for the feedback. appreciate it lots!!!!!!!!! This forum is so cool.
