When I installed my Imax, I made my own chiminey mount. I used 2 1/2"x2" pieces of strap steel that were a little longer than the chiminey is wide. I drilled holes in them and used threaded rod to sandwich the chiminey in between them. I took a piece of pipe that would just fit over my mast and drilled a hole in it. I welded a nut over the hole so I could use a bolt to secure my mast inside the pipe.I welded that pipe to one of the straps and bolted it to my chiminey. I made two of these sets and used one set of them at the top of the chiminey and one a little lower. I put my mast inside the pipe and tightened the bolts on the pipe .....Best and most heavy duty chiminey mount Ive ever came across |

Personally, I would reconsider the chimney mount idea unless you plan on using guy wires on the installation. Chimneys really aren't designed to have something sticking out of them 30 feet and acting like a pry-bar everytime the wind blows! Past that Channel Master made a heavy duty chimney mount which used two heavy duty stainless steel (maybe plated stainless) straps, each having a ribbed reinforced "T" bar (shape of a T) to sandwich on the corner of the chimney that increased the wind loading capacity. It was complete with a ratchet action locking tension reel for the strap that could easily be released if you needed to remove it later. Mine has held a tv antenna for over 20 years now and just starting to show rust. Good luck! |

Well I see MR_RF's point, but I had a Antron 99 with the Ground Plane kit installed on my chimney with a standard 10 foot antenna mast from the local hardware store and I bought the chimney mount at Walmart which is used to mount the 18 inch satellite dish but i seen the chimney mount at the hardware store also. It worked great for the 5 years I had it up in Chicago-land weather. Only thing to consider is there is no ground on a chimney. |

If it is an older house there will most likley be a lightning rod on or near the chiminey. I cut this trace of the ground cable and used it for my Imax. I have a ton of lightning rods on my house so this wasnt a problem |
