I took my Eagle Tomahawk base station out of my closet after almost 6 years. I turned it on and wow no problem it works fine but I can hardly hear the audio coming out of the speaker. It never had this problem before. Does anyone know where the trim is to turn up my receive. I really appreciate it. Please email me if you know. UNIT287swaves@aol.com

I would venture a guess that there really is no trim pot to turn up the volume. That function is generally handled by the volume control itself, which may very well be a bit grungy from sitting so long. If you used to use an external speaker with the radio, you might try plugging one in or just cleaning the speaker jack contacts.

One step at a time....

First get an external speaker and plug it into the external speaker jack. If he volume on the external speaker is loud then the problem is in the internal speaker.

Open the case of the radio, carefully please, and remove and examine the internal speaker. Is it torn, damaged, or otherwise mechanically defective. Are the contacts to the speaker discolered. Resolder the speaker contacts to clear up any cold solder joints that may have developed due to temperature changes over time.

I speak from experience. The speaker in my Pace 1000B over the years in the cold storage space developed more than a few mechanical difficulties. I had to replace it with a smaller speaker (original size not available) that I hot glued into place. The ol 1000 bad boy works fine now.

PS If you are working inside the radio PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take care where you touch. House current can kill you.

Hey guys thanks for the help, it seems that I found out what was wrong. I didn't have the unit in any cold storage only in my closet where it is the same as the house temp. Anyway I have done uch work to this radio in the past. I peaked it and added a echo/reverb board when I first bought it from copper I guess about 6-8 years ago. Anyway I found the problem and it was a loose wire in front of the meters by accident I hit one with my hand and the volume shot way up so I traced it and found it loose and then resoldered it. All is ok now. Hey another thing it's been almost 6-8 years since I have been on the air and when I went on it was dead I mean no one is on anymore, do you think the internet has taken over? Wondering if I should hold on to my equipment or sell it. I have this Tomahawk Eagle, D104 Night Eagle, Superbig stik or an A99 not sure it's been so long since I been on the roof lol. I have a Texas Ranger Tr399 WX (Still a Virgin) with a Cobra echo mike and a Wilson 5000 use to use that in my van and in my Tractor tralier. Well I guess the cb faded out in New Jersey :o( well thanks guys for the help. well appreciater..........Walt from Jersey
