can i put 2 flouresent bulb on each side of my a99 ?and how much power would it take to light them up? |

Sometimes those flourescent lights can really cause major noise/static in your receiver. I would suggest trying something temporary without getting real elaborate or expensive first, then see how it affects your radio. Just a thought. Alsworld |

sounds like the early 60's speaken beaking base antenna it had a 6 inch tube at the top that lit up .... to guide mobles to your door! |

LOL!!!! Why would a person want that? I knew a guy that wanted to put Xmas lights on his beam and tower and try to make them modulate with his radio!! :-D |

Re Gator.... There are hot spots on any antenna where current is very high. These high energy spots can light up florescent bulbs. The commom picture is a guy holding a florescent tube near his mobile ham antenna with the tube glowing enough to take his picture at night. BUT to do so also draws off RF from transmission into light. Your signal should suffer a loss of strength as the RF would be converted to light rather transmitted to the outside world. If you insist on making your antenna glow like a lightening bug just use some LEDs fed by a small coil of wire. The LED does not draw hardly any current and requires on a low level of induced voltage. DE |

well i want to use 2 3 footers at the base of the a99 with a ground hooked up but im not sure how much power it will take to run them ???? |
