Consider this. An X-Force 400HD Amp. Amp draw is 45 amps continuous, 100 amps maximum. Under what conditions will an amp actually use "Maximum Amps", instead of continuous amps?? Would this amp have 100 amp fuse?,or a 50 amp fuse?? And would it "Blow" to protect your electrical system? And operating at 100 amps max, how would your car react, going 65 mph with an 115 amp alternator, and a 1000 cca battery, with the air-conditioning "ON". Finally, how long could talk with this amp, standing still with the engine turned off. |

The maximum amperage will be with maximum drive. If your alternator cannot supply the amperage for everything you demand, your voltage will fall and the battery discharge as well as excessive heating of all items involved. How long with the engine off? Depends on your battery, but not very long (a few minutes). |

Tech671, Maximum drive meaning 12, 16, or 18 Volts?? Or do you mean like "Watts"? Such as, a little driver, pushing the bigger amp for all she'll take?? , or do you mean having all the car accessories like lights, air-conditioning etc, running all at the same time?? I guess with a voltage failure at 65 mph, my car will stall, no power-steering or brakes to save me, and I'll be going to the great "Keydown" in the sky, a little earlier than I expected to. |

Get a diesel truck battery 300lbs,20,000 cold cranking amps that should last a few minutes more, lol. |

Maximum drive as in the amplifier running with maximum recommended input drive. I give advise as I would run things myself. You by all means don't have to listen. I've been down that road for many years and try to help others not make the costly mistakes I did. |

Tech 671 what are the rammifications of the major car companies going to 48 volt electrical systems in 2006 as far as radios and amps are concerned, since most all are designed to work at around 13.8 volts? |
