Has anybody ever used a Galaxy DX77HML before and if so what are your thoughts on this radio?

Tomcat,My bro-in-law had one about 6yrs ago in his big truck with co-phased francis 4 1/2 ft that worked very well.He bought it used and took it to the cb shop to check it out. It was peaked and tuned, the audio was very clear. It also had a RK56 mic.Over all it was a very nice rig.Just my two cents worth.Good luck with it. Stepchild

I think it's a great radio!I run one in my truck with a wilson 5000.Havent had the first complaint.Only thing i did was put a seperate toggle switch on it for the talk back. That way i can run just a little reverb without feedback.Great recieve and transmit.I also run a Texas Star 667V in line with it.Awesome setup far as i'm concerned.

Hey thanks much for the responces. It's kind of difficult to spend that kind of cash when you are not too sure of how a radio operates. I have been burnt once before, if you know what I mean...

Opps, I guess that should have read how well a Radio operates... I guess you can tell I'm kind of new to this forum thing... Also on the FM side of the DX77 under normal weather conditions what would you say the transmition distance would be? Thanks again for all of the responces.

AM and FM should deliver almost identical talking range. On the receive side, FM does not tolerate a busy channel quite so well as AM. It's most effective on a quiet channel with no other conversations going on.

FM is NOT as good as AM on skip due to phase distortion. Leagualty aside there is no reason to use it on CB and unless the FCC should deside to revamp CB and make FM the primary mode it makes little sence to play with it.
Now I'm a FM A-HOLIC on 10 meters and up and have 35 years of useing that mode it requires more band with and is FAR less efective than SSB and except for its noise limiting has no real advantage over ANY mode even am. Leave it to the ham bands
