I purchased a new CB with weather channels. I own a Dodge Dakota. A new one I want to park in the garage, therefore, I have a length limitation. I will mount either on bedrail or use a fener-rail hood mount. This wlll limit me to about a 3ft antenna. Are you with me so far?
I think I remember from my limited experience with CB's years ago, that the antenna load needs to be above the roof line of the truck?? If so, what about a Wilson Silverload 3ft fiberglass antenna? Any other suggestions, thoughts, etc.?
Any feedback would be appreciated. THANKS, MikeB

how about the Wilson "Little Wil" Magnetic Antenna
The Wilson "Little Wil" is the perfect choice if you need a short antenna with maximum performance for your mobile CB radio.
The "Little Wil" is complete with coil, magnet mount, 36" antenna whip, coax cable and a 1 year guarantee.
Large 10 oz. Magnet
14 Gauge Wire
300 Watt Power Rating
Air Coil Winding

this way you just take it off when in the garage and you get performance to grow into with a little amp if need be in the future

Thanks, Copper Fan. I thought about the Little Wil, but was hoping to avoid having to live with the inconvenience of taking the antenna off and puting it back on when using the garage.

Mike, your thoughts about the wilson silver is fine. Just make sure that the top of the antenna has plenty of clearance as far as being higher than the roof line. Good luck.

Keith, your post does raise the question of what is plenty of clearance (top of cab to top of antenna)? 8 inches enough? MikeB

Get a wilson 1000/5000 trunk mount, put it on your hood. The garage won't hurt it and the antenna won't hurt the garage. Just take it easy coming and going. Thats what I did. I've got toyota 4x4 pu.
