It does what it says. It decodes all those funny warbly sounds you hear on the shortwave radio and turns them into text. |

It is a TNC. It is an interface between a ham radio and a computer that is used by hams which permits them to run digital communications such as packet, AMTOR, and other such digi computer communications. It requires a computer capable of running a terminal program to operate. DE |

sorry, didn't mean to sound so simplistic, but that's what it does. Let's not forget it works fine on any HF(shortwave) receiver in case someone just want to surf the utes and maybe pick up some interesting traffic. |

Boxcar the kantronics have a mailbox included. Just imagine data without phone lines and the radio is the phone line it recieves and transmits via the modem. The Kam will decode CW also. MFJ never used one except as a digi. Can you tell I like paket? Take care guys and gals. Boxcar e-mail me if you want more. John |
