Re Ryan...

It is possible that ol Alli has some serious signal spurs on either his radio output or his amplifier. If they are frequency spurs they would manifest themselves as stray signals to the side(s) of the main frequency.

The problem could reside with Alli's radio/amp rather than the people 40 miles away.

The only way to tell is to put the signal thru a spectrum analyzer.

Re 3885...

Tis true a spec analizer is not your standard piece of equipment. But it is a piece of equipment that a well tooled radio tech establishment might have. Of course he will charge you a few bucks for the use of it. But if he finds stray signals he is also capable of realigning the radio back into purity specs as well.

Hmmmmm a trade and or tech school just might have that spec analyzer.

Hello Team,
Allagator, try running your home station without the amplifier on as a test with someone closer in.This may pinpoint if the amp is the cause.

If your radio is that spurious, I would highly suggest you not use it until it can be repaired. You don't know what kind of interference you could be causing on aviation, broadcast, public safety, etc.

Hello Team
Hear!Hear! Tech833,you are right on that comment for sure.I had a Uniden HR2510 get into the local police link channel. This only happened once when I was mobile in central city and I was pulled over by a squad car.Lucky I knew the officer and I explained how it happened and that how I was going to remedy the hicup.
Moral of the story:Keep your stations CLEAN
Purchase known brand name equipment and if possible check all your gear on an scope analyser periodicaly.

I had a johnson messanger 23channel tube radio, had no adjacent channel rejection,I was on 22 two kids were on 2 10 miles away, bleeding all over me,got a newer radio no more problems, but some people are satified with they're lot in life and think all their problems are someone elses fault, never theirs,I had my eyes opened by a friend,I am happier now.

Those other guys are running old junk with no adj.channel rejection of any kind and either can't or won't upgrade.Take it from me you can screw around with the reciever strip so much that you can hear broadcast stations 28 mHz away, people should always have a competant tech realign the reciever,it's really not a do-it-yourself project,I got some junk to prove it.Your radio's fine.

At 20 miles your signal should be so far down that a regen reciver could work ... I agree sounds like they need to visit copper and drop a dime!

The only real way to know if its your radios is to have them tested on proper test equipment. If it appears that you have two different radios with the same problem (most unlikely)my past experiences (over 25years in the trade) suggests that the problem is elsewhere and most likely at the receiving end.

Bigbob is right I have come across radios that would receive 0-30Mhz on any channel after thumbfingered "techs" had been at them. Most I refused to work on - not financially viable to charge for the amount of time required to fix.

Well let me see your using a connex piece of junk
most likely with the mod limiter clipped on a mav250 that most likely does 400 like mine does and is a tube type splatter box on a antron 99 which has been known to splatter also and most likely us •••• mini 58 radio shack coax.

Wow and your surprized that you bleed over???
