What radio does coppers sell that is as close to or just like the older Cobra 148 GTL in terms of the board, modifications, and overall spects? |

Texas Ranger TR-296 is the same radio as the Cobra 148(Not the soundtracker). |

Cool!!! Thats the one im interested in.. But i was also looking at the 3900 also as a second choise because of the functions it has. Does the 3900 have the same power output as the TR-296? |

I know the Cobra 148 and 296 are NOT swing radios but the audio is 2nd to none. I have heard that the 3900 swings real good but the Cobra 148 and the 296 are my picks. I pulled the mod limiter out and take no prisoners. later |

Well i found a 148GTL that is used that a tech friend has that is fully channeled and tweaked for $100.00. It even has a new face and covers. I used to own a 148 GTL and no it didnt have the swing on the meter ( only did 18 watts) but it TALKED all over!! I think thats why a lot of guys sly away from the 148 because it doesnt swing like a galaxy or other radios but from what ive heard on the air they talk just as far and are just as loud to me!! |

to top it off the 3900 will give you alot more channels, roger beep, and even FM |
