Hootyal, Really can't see these radios doing to well when they are a AM/FM Radio ONLY! With "NO SSB" , NO FREQUENCY COUNTER, NO ROGER BEEP,NO CLARIFIER, NO HEAT SINK on bottom, NO COOLING FAN, makes it a very HIGH PRICED AM/FM RADIO. GALAXY is calling it a "Medium Power" AM/FM 10 Meter Radio. Two 2SC1969 Output Transistors that generate 10 watts of power for AM/FM operation (NO SSB Operation) I don't think you will find many if any useing AM or FM on the 10 METER BAND. Just my thought's. Lon Tech808 PS. This information was gathered from the GALAXY web site.

Right On Bruce!!!!!!! When was the last time you saw a name brand amateur radio that looked like a CB? When was the last time you saw an automobile manufacturer design a car to look like a train? It is my opinion that if Galaxy intended their radios to sold to amateurs then they would make more effort to cosmetically dress them up like the more popular ham radios, not CB radios! Hmmm, are Galaxy radios FCC certified? Mr_RF Oh yea, almost forgot...10 meter AM/FM is alive but at the price Galaxy wants for some of their stuff I could own a really nice used Kenwood, Yaesu, Icom and a whole lot more HF bang for the buck! |

Take a Galaxy 44, change the board to the newer 6900, give it a big meter, "nightwatch" type feature, dual finals. I think it will do fine in the market it is aimed at. I should have one in in about two weeks for evaluation. |

Galaxys new radios are too pricy for the regular radio market they are aimed at..... The 93T and the 48T are too pricy.. |

Well if you think about it the 48T is only a little more than the DX99 and has a 150w amp to boot. Not too bad a deal. They should make all units with the large meter and light up face, as well as a unlocked coarse slide like the 55/66. |
